Predictions for 2016 | Travel & beyond

I won't pretend that a post about the New Year is an original concept, but as I quite like reading them myself I thought there was no harm in adding to the trillions already other there on the World Wide Web.

I'll [try] to keep in snappy for all of our sakes.

Travel

June

Malaysia & the Philippines. I'm very excited to be going back to Malaysia [blog posts] as it was the surprise favourite (after Japan) country of my trip in 2014! We'll be popping over to the Philippines if the weather co-operates.


July

Croatia. This will be the first time I've gone travelling with my Mum, so no doubt there will be plenty of tales to tell about this!

Unconfirmed

Barbados. I loved this country when I went in November 2013 and it's another country I've been itching to go back to. A friend has a house here, so fingers crossed I can make it across at some point this year.

Eastern Europe/Interrailing. As I have a long summer this year (about 12 weeks or so) I am itching to get out there and make the most of it, funds permitting. I have a few ideas about how to make my money last longer including looking for work in a hostel, sticking to Eastern Europe or keeping my eyes peeled for money makers early in the summer.

Octoberfest. Well why on earth wouldn't I want to? A friend suggested it and I am so in.

Edinburgh Festival/Fife

I have my cousin's wedding in Scotland in August, so I'd be silly not to make the most of it + Lucy and vowed to do it in 2015 and it didn't take off.

Personal Goals

Be more patient and more kind

I am lucky to still have two grandparents left in this world and this year I want to make sure that I really appreciate their company even when it can be difficult/'sleepy'. I also need to give my family more slack, especially as they take the brunt when I'm tired or stressed.

Become a morning person

Ever since I read a post on a pair & a spare about becoming a morning person, I've really fancied the idea. I took a stab at it at the end of last year and I must say I felt much better, so this is a commitment to stick at it!

Wellbeing

Practice Yoga consistently

This must be up there in the top 20 NY resolutions, but I feel I have a real chance at this as I sunk my teeth into yoga with the introductory 30 day offer at Triyoga.

Complete a Half Marathon

I've vowed to complete a half marathon with my best buddy Maddie this March, so fingers crossed I can drag myself out of bed when I'm back living with half a dozen other students.

Eat more vegetarian meals

I love bacon and sausages a little too much and since the hyped up news that it can cause cancer, I definitely don't think it will do my health any harm to cut back on meat. I do need to patronise you with the health benefits of eating more veggies either. We all know the drill.


Make my own soup

I'm going to own chunky soups this year. I frequently buy supermarket versions, but I reckon I'd be better making off my own. Last year some friends and I spoke about doing a soup swap at the beginning of the week as it's easier to make big batches. I get bored very easily so the idea is that you wouldn't need to have the same thing for lunch every day (snooze...).
