London Life Week 001

If you know me outside of B.O.B. then you will probably know that I've moved to London for 6 months to complete an internship in Marketing.

I can't tell you how excited I've been to start working life again and also be living in the tourist heart of the UK. I live 30-60 mins outside of London (depending on what train you choose) so I've been here frequently for years, especially as my brother had a place here for the last 4. I've always loved London and to actually be living here?... IT'S FAB.

With the move comes more things to blog about (like I needed them!) and so without further introduction, here's what I got up to in my first week...

Saatchi Gallery | Monday

While most head to Tate Modern for their fill of modern art, I find the Saatchi Gallery much more to my taste. It's less hanging brooms with wigs and more huge walls of colour and shape.
It's not all abstract with some figure work, sculpture and installation Art in the mix. Exhibitions change every few months and the origins of artists vary wildly resulting in a fresh, varied gallery. Allow about an hour/an hour and a half to see the galleries at a pleasurable pace and enjoy the beautiful surrounding outside + the well-stocked gift shop.

Cereal Killer Cafe | Friday

This place is awesome. I'd heard about it a while ago as a TV presenter tried to have a go at them for charging £4 for a bowl of cereal. I can imagine some of the rarer cereals (of which they have many) and the imported cereals do cost a fair bit, but he did have a point - they must make a mint, but don't they deserve it though...

I saw a tea towel in the Saatchi Gallery saying "Modern Art = I could do that + Yeah but you didn't" which just about sums up this place... Why has no-one thought of this before??
Introducing Unicorn Poop (below) a 'cereal cocktail' that includes Party Rings. Yes. Party Rings. And the best thing about the cafe is they have about a dozen different milk options including all the alternatives, so I could have it with lactofree milk.
I personally love the idea and for a date etc. or a quick meal it's as cheap as any cafe in London is ever going to get. It's a fun thing to do and a cool place to chill out.
We got there just before closing and there were only a few couples chilling out, but I can imagine at peak times it would be impossible to get a seat.

Prices: My Unicorn Poop was actually the upper end of the cereal cocktail menu at £4.80. Smaller bowls of UK cereals start at £2.50 or £4.40 for large American cereal. See menu.
