Boogie Baking Bonanza: PART I Chocolate and Peanut Butter Whoopie Pies

I'm not so sure how this night came about, but I guess all the best nights start this way.

My brother was back home, his friend Rachel was round and my friend Hazel had had a bad day. The night before I had practically scorned my family for buying ANYTHING that I could bake them - I need any opportunity to feed people to complete my challenge by the New Year. Consequently the next day 'the team' managed to make 4 recipes within 4 hours. It was quite the operation. I've split it down by recipe, so it doesn't become a novel.

We started off with Chocolate and Peanut Butter Whoopie Pies. It's been a while since I baked any Whoopie Pies as I needed to get myself a new tub of Marshmallow Fluff. I've put I'm putting together a list of where you can find the more obscure ingredients needed for Hummingbird's recipes.

After I warned Rachel that the Whoopie Pies are hard to shape, we decided to muck right in and roll them. Without being too crude, the very rich brown colour smeared all over our hands and in little balls on the tray, didn't exactly evoke a huge appetite.

As always there was double the required filling and it's sitting in the fridge waiting for the next Whoopie recipe. This Whoopie Pie dough seems to be firmer and easier to handle, so I'd definitely recommend it over, say, the Carrot Cake Whoopie Pies.

Neither of us are massive fans of peanut butter, yet the taste of peanuts wasn't too overpowering and they still taste suitable chocolately.

Part II coming right up...
