I think it would be fair to say that there is something very 'un-gimmicky' about this loaf. There's no frosting nor glaze, no sprinkles nor chocolate chunks. It's not about the money (ha. ha.) decoration or the twist, just pure rich chocolate.
It's the sensible recipe which you could serve to someone without the fear of them sighing and launching the blub about wishing they could/had the time to bake. It's not one to make a fuss over when making it or eating it for that matter. It's not going to change your life, but it's a good solid recipe.
The only possible thing I have to comment on is that it drys out much quicker than most hummingbird recipes, so once it's cooled down, whip it in to an airtight container and do allow yourself an extra slice on the night when it's at it's peak.
